Eternal Strands is Playable on Steam Deck but Continued Work Required

Eternal Strands looks fantastic on Steam Deck if you stand still.

Eternal Strands is most likely worth a Playable status on Steam Deck but currently, it won't be the greatest experience. Our testing has shown some major anti-aliasing issues. TSR is causing the whole picture to become extremely fuzzy as it tries to smooth out those jagged edges. FSR isn't much better as we've found an off-putting ghosting effect around our character. XeSS is the best of a bad bunch in this case but even still it's not handling the process very well. The video below will give you a better idea of these issues.

The overall performance of Eternal Strands on Steam Deck is reasonable. When adventuring through the Enclave we can at one moment sit pleasantly around the 40 FPS mark but as soon as we bring in a heavy load of textures and enemies we can just as easily struggle to stay above 30 FPS. Pair this with our anti-aliasing issues and it doesn't do the beautiful landscape we're exploring much justice.

We do hope future updates will correct the issues we've found and earn a fantastic-looking game (when we stand still for now) with a Playable or Verified status on Steam Deck. Check out our best settings guide to get the most out of Eternal Strands at launch.
