At CES 2025 Lenovo announced the launch of the New S models, while these look slick, have Windows and an official SteamOS version, the releases are staggered and the choices are somewhat confusing.

From the articles, there appear to be 4 Legion Go S models coming in total, each with between 512Gb and 2TB SSD storage options and 16GB or 32GB RAM, but only one model is available to order today.

If you prefer, we have a video roundup of all the handheld news below:

The Legion Go S - Windows, Z2Go Edition is available to order today on the Lenovo Website and also from Best Buy in the US and is only available in White.

This model is being offered with 16GB or 32GB RAM and is the AMD Ryzen™ Z2 GO Processor (3.00 GHz up to 4.30 GHz) with a 55Wh battery.

The 16GB is available for £600 shipping in 3-4 weeks and the 32GB model for £649.99 on the Lenovo site in the UK shipping on Jan 21, but $729.99 on the Best Buy site for a Feb 14 shipping date

The Legion Go S - SteamOS Editionw is only available in Black but will not be available until May 2025 and is expected to also have the Z2 GO Processor, however, it is still unclear if there will be an option with a Z1E processor like the existing Legion GO and ROG Ally devices and it is also not clear what RAM options will be provided.

The Legion Go S - Windows Edtion with a Z1E processor is also set to release in May 2025 alongside the Legion Go S SteamOS edition. The Z1E model with Windows is also expected to have a 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD option.

Lenovo also released a trailer for the Legion GO S launch

The Legion Go 2 prototype was also shown, however these details are still subject to change, although we hope to see the promised specs as this would make for a very nice device.

The Legion GO 2 Prototype features up to the new AMD Ryzen™ Z2 Extreme processor with RDNA™ 3.5 graphics and up to 32GB of 7500Mhz LPDDR5X RAM2, as well as a native landscape 8.8” 16:10 144Hz5 500nit OLED PureSight touch display with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support, which will be the best display we will have seen on any mainstream handheld device to date and also the most powerful processor/APU and the magic 32GB RAM. The controllers will still be detachable, but it's unclear if they have done away with the FPS mode at this time.

It will also have up to 2TB of SSD storage and a 74Whr battery so we should still be able to get 2 hours of gameplay on AAA titles however, it's going to come at a cost, with a suspected entry price of around $1,100 and no set release date at present.
