Zotac's forthcoming handheld features hardware improvements in all the essential areas.
After teasing a sneak peek in an earlier press release, ZOTAC showcased a working prototype of an upcoming Zone Gaming handheld at the CES 2025 show. Since this is a prototype the specifications listed below could change before the official product is released this year...?
ZOTAC Zone Hardware Upgrades
The AMD Ryzen™ AI HX 9 370 APU on Zen5 & RDNA3.5 architecture will power the new handheld. This is the full Strix Point APU with 12 cores, 24 threads CPU and the Radeon™ 890M iGPU. This is a significant improvement from their first iteration. The Ryzen™ AI HX 9 370 has a standard 28W TDP and is adjustable between 15W and 54W. It also includes 50 TOPS XDNA NPU.
The upgrades keep coming with 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 50% increase from the current model. Unfortunately, the memory speed hasn't been disclosed but ZOTAC is also expanding the storage to a 1TB M.2 SSD.
The working prototype on display at CES 2025 had the same 7" AMOLED 1080p 120Hz display and 48.5Wh Li-ion battery that is present in the current device.
The remaining specifications include; Hall effect joysticks & triggers, 2-stage adjustable triggers, radial dial, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, UHS-II microSD slot, USB4 ports and a built-in kickstand.
2024 ZOTAC Zone vs NEW ZOTAC Zone 2025
The upcoming ZOTAC handheld's specifications elevate it to a higher tier of handheld devices. Still, it will face competition from the yet-to-be-released MSI Claw 8 and Lenovo Legion Go 2.
