Speed Freeks, Steamworld Heist II & JDM Rise of the Scorpian - Steam Deck Gameplay & Best Settings

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on three exciting game updates I've been looking at.

First off, we have SteamWorld Heist 2, and I want to give a huge shoutout to Fanatical for providing us with a key to test this game on the Steam Deck before its release. The game runs fantastically well on the Steam Deck, but I do recommend capping the frame rate at 45 frames per second on the OLED screen and 40 frames per second on the LCD to conserve battery life. I found that adjusting the interface overscan and keeping Vsync off improved the gaming experience. Overall, SteamWorld Heist 2 looks and plays flawlessly on the Steam Deck, and the gameplay is extremely addictive.

Next up, we have JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, an upcoming game that's definitely worth adding to your wish list. This game offers a mix of simulator drift and arcade racing, which can be quite challenging. Despite some performance issues on the Steam Deck, especially at night in certain areas, the game's drift mechanics and driving simulator abilities are impressive. With the potential for further improvements, JDM: Rise of the Scorpion is a game to keep an eye on.

Finally, we have Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks. This game ran quite well during the open beta, but it's now running even better after its full release. By adjusting the settings, I was able to achieve a stable 40 frames per second on the Steam Deck, making it playable and enjoyable. However, the high power draw limits the battery life, so playing on the go might be a bit constrained.

These game updates showcase the potential of gaming on the Steam Deck. Each title offers its own unique experience, and I'm excited to see how these games continue to evolve. Let me know in the comments if you're considering picking any of these up, and I'll see you in the next update!
