AYANEO has announced a teaser for their Upcoming AYANEO NEXT LITE, marking the return of the NEXT product series running SteamOS.
This will mark the first handheld not made by Valve to ship with SteamOS, and the AYANEO NEXT LITE pre-orders are expected to open from January 11, 9:30 PM PT
From their announcement article:
AYANEO NEXT LITE comes pre-installed with the SteamOS gaming system for the first time.
This is not only a huge milestone for SteamOS but could also open the floodgates to other handheld manufacturers to have the option to have SteamOS pre-installed rather than Windows for a potentially cheaper option.
UPDATE - it's now been clarified that this is actually using a third party version of SteamOS - HoloISO - full details and specs here
The AYANEO NEXT LITE will have a 7-inch 800P LCD screen, a 47Wh capacity battery and X-axis linear motors, but more details are yet to come, making it a potentially even more budget option than the 256GB LCD Steam Deck.
With SteamOS still not being publicly available, will we ever see it released if other manufacturers are going to have it installed instead of Windows?
