In this update, we excitedly announce the availability of a game called The Thaumaturge on the Steam Deck, and we'd like to express gratitude to Evolve PR and 11bit Studios for providing early access. However, the positive tone is tempered by a recent change in the game's graphic settings in the last hour before release.
Initially, the game had diverse graphic settings, but now it's mentioned that the options have been limited to only motion blur and depth of field. FSR 3 with frame generation is locked at 45 frames per second, causing noticeable ghosting and artifacting, particularly in background areas during transition scenes and with hair rendering. There is frustration over the lack of response from the developers regarding the possibility of reverting this change and we hope for a prompt patch to allow users to tweak settings on the Steam Deck.
Despite these graphic setting limitations, the game is reported to run well on the Steam Deck, performing fantastically in general. Challenging battle sequences may lead to occasional dips in frame rates, especially during transitions where units make their moves. The speaker notes that the FSR 3 issues, particularly with hair rendering and background effects, become apparent in these situations.
We need for developers to offer more flexibility in graphic settings for Steam Deck users, suggesting a Steam Deck preset similar to what Cyberpunk provides on the PC version. Despite the current limitations, the game is deemed playable, and we will provide updates if the settings are unlocked.
